KEYNOTE Plenary Panel

The Intersectional

Future of Animal Law

Social movements rarely operate in isolation, but have much to gain from their intersecting insights, challenges, and experiences. As the Canadian animal law movement contemplates its past and considers its future, attendees are invited to reflect on the intersections between animal law and other equality-seeking social movements—including those that advocate for gender equality, racial equality, Indigenous rights, and disability justice.

  • Maneesha Deckha, Professor, University of Victoria Faculty of Law
  • Dr. Anthony Nocella, Executive Director, Institute for Critical Animal Studies & Assistant Professor, Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Salt Lake City Community College
  • Dr. Margaret Robinson, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, Dalhousie University
  • Moderator: Jessica Eisen, Assistant Professor, University of Alberta Faculty of Law

Members of the community are invited to join this free, public conference plenary session, to be held at 4:15 pm on Saturday, October 5 in the Scotiabank Auditorium, Marion McCain Arts & Social Sciences Building, 6135 University Avenue, Halifax.
